How to Get: Hanna Marin's Style

How to Get: Hanna Marin's Style
Hey everyone! Sorry for not posting sets lately! School has been so busy and taking up all of my time! Just thought I should do another PLL style advice set! THE FABULOUS HANNA MARIN!

Balance girly frills with pieces borrowed from the boys. Hanna frequently mixes contrasting styles in one ensemble, pairing flirty dresses and ruffled tops with menswear-inspired structured blazers. To do this yourself, try putting a fitted jacket or boyfriend blazer over your favorite frilly dress.

Go blue. (Or find your signature hue.) Hanna wears so much blue! Sometimes her entire outfit is composed of blue garments, but it never looks dull because she’s knows how to work the monotone look. The trick? Mix up the shades! You can wear an outfit in all one color if you wear items in different shades of the hue. Just pick a color you love that flatters your skin and hair.

Define your waist. Hanna utilizes belts to define her natural waist, particularly when she’s wearing lots of layers. Wear a skinny belt over a blazer or buckle a thick one over your favorite fit-n-flare dress.

Enhance your outfit with eye-catching jewelry. Unlike Emily, Hanna doesn’t go minimal on the jewelry front: You’ll often seeing her layering long necklaces, reading texts from A with big cocktail rings on her fingers, or sporting big gold hoops in her ears.

Look luxe without spending big bucks. Hanna was accustomed to shopping at the pricey stores and wearing the hippest designer labels but now, like us college students, she finds herself adjusting to life in a “one paycheck family.” Fortunately, budget shopping doesn’t mean you have to let go of looking luxurious. Seek out designer collaboration lines at inexpensive retailers (like the Go International collections at Target, I Heart Ronson and Olsenboye at JCPenney or Vera Wang and Lauren Conrad’s collections for Kohl’s) and don’t settle for fabrics that look cheaply made or shabby. Splurge on wardrobe investments like a nice coat, a pair of jeans that fit like a dream or a versatile leather bag.

Be put-together, polished and poised. If you want to steal Hanna’s style, you’ve got to master looking perfectly polished. On any given day, whether she’s just doing homework in her kitchen or scouting out A in the woods, Hanna looks put-together and walks with poise.

Hanna Marin Basics:

1) blazers!! She pairs these over dresses, and tops with skirts! She often pairs masculine clothing pieces like structuered blazers with feminine pieces like dresses and skirts!
2) Belts! These are so important in her style since she has tons of skirts and dresses! She uses belts to be cinched at the waist to define her natural curves.
3) Heels of all kinds: platforms, pumps, sandal heels, wedges. She pairs these with practically every outfit....I dont think she never not wears heels ;P Also try some thing a little different with the heels, like scrunching down knee high socks and pairing it with tights in the colder seasons! For example a pair of lavendar socks scrunched down with silver glitter mary jane pumps for a xmas party.
4) Skirts: high lows, maxi, denim skirts, bandage skirts. She pairs this with ruffle tops, button down tops tied in the front along with blazers and her statement accessories
5) Accessories: Statement earrings (hoops, droop easrrings), necklaces with low cut dresses or tops, bracelets, and rings. Statement accessories can totally transform an outfit...for example if you are just wearing a simple dress with a jean jacket then jazz it up with statement earrings and necklaces! hanna really likes to mix her jewelry to create a whole other look.
6) Handbags! hanna definitely uses these for "backpacks" at school! So consider a classic black leather bag that is big and roomy. It goes with every outfit if you cannot spend a fortune on different kinds of handbags. Hanna uses lots of shoulder bags to keep all of her school supplies in it,...rather than small ones like clutches.
7)Hair: Waves! She waves/curls her hair with it just down or in a ponytail! She also does side ponytails a lot!
8) Makeup: mascara, eyeliner, nude/pink lip and you are good to go!

Hope this helps all you Hanna fashionistas out there! :)

How to Get Aria Montgomery's Style

How to Get Aria Montgomery's Style
Hey guys! I am going to teach you how to get aria montgomery's style! I actually made this set on @thetippiest-tipgirls account, but just if you didn't see it...here it is again!

The best way to get her style is to hit up some thrift stores and vintage shops for some cheap finds. Don't forget that its ok to splurge on a good quality purchase once in a while too! So here are some key elements in her style:

1) feather earrings or any other vintage drop earrings: She wears this look alot with her hair down in waves so that the earrings peak out from underneath.

2) Patterns: lace, stripes, vintage floral patterns, and some bright colorful yet suttle florals and animal print (suttle edy cheetah print) and aztec print (like the vest in my set).

3) Layering: Oh my goodness layering is key when it comes to Aria's style! She wears layers such as a colorful scarf over a dress over lace tights. That is what makes her style so cool is her layers that just make her ensembles fashionable! This may sound like a big money spender....but layering is the easiest!! You can find lace or patterned tights, and knee high socks at places like Forever 21, or H&M for really cheap! She usually wears high waist shorts, skirts or dresses over tights so mostly get basic dresses in colors that you can wear for all seasons such as light blue, black, cream, rose, lavendar, etc. Then you can splurge on a cute patterned dress with lace!

Embrace legwear. Tights, thigh-highs, knee socks and ankle socks are must-haves for fall and some of Aria’s favorite pieces. They keep your legs toasty (key when transitioning your summery dresses into fall) and they work with a plethora of shoes. Extend the life of your favorite strappy sandals past summer by wearing them with socks.

Mix it up. Combine different textures, fabrics, colors and patterns. Mix a cotton dress with a leather jacket, try wearing a plaid dress with a crochet shrug, or top off a silk dress with a sheer chiffon top. Those are just some examples of how Aria layers and shakes things up in her wardrobe.
4) Overalls!! She wears these over swimsuits as a swimsuit coverup...uber cute! Along with it over colorful undertops (bustier tops, bandeaus, tight crop tops).

5) Boots! Boots are her wardrobe staple during winter and fall. She pairs them with knee high socks to change up the look of the boots! You should definitely get combat boots if you dont have them already! They look great with scrunched down socks and knee highs.

6) Accessories: Scarves, belts!!!, 50s inspired shades, aviator shades, earrings, statement bracelets, and legwarmers/knee high socks

7) more clothes: high waist shorts, graphic tees, crop tops, tie front tops, bustier tops paired with high low skirts or high waist skirts, button down tops used as a regular top, tie front top, or cardigan!! (by the way, button down tops are so amazing for those 3 uses! They can be worn over and over again! She tends to pair them with a bustier top wth a skirt or with high waist shorts)

8)Fringe tops!! Oh you can easily DIY this! Just cut vertical strips on a tee you dont want! Free fashion! :)

9) Shoes: gladiator sandals, pumps (any kind! but every girl needs a pair of nude pumps in her wardrobe because they go with everything!!), combat boots, flats, and loafers.

10) Makeup: mascara, eyeliner, defined eyebrows, nude /pink lips

11) Hair: easy simple waves, side braids, high bun, straight hair in a short cute bob cut

Here is a collection of clothing items Aria would wear! http://www.polyvore.com/what_would_aria_montgomery_wear/collection?id=1749140

Voila!

In Vogue We Trust

In Vogue We Trust
I love Vogue and all of these fashion magazines! I hope to become a stylist one day or a fashion director at one of these prestigous magazines! The saying "In Vogue We Trust" is so true. People like me who inspire to get their foot in the fashion industry are so dependent on these magazines as a "heads-up." Anyways, I hope you enjoy this transitional outfit from summer into fall with the neon colors! :)

"Fashion considered as an art is so passé"
I have heard that phrase too many times to count in fashion magazines of all kinds. Its interesting to here fashion designers say this...but sometimes I think fashion should be considered an art of some sort. Just because you don't use a palette and brushes doesn't mean its not an art. Crafting and shaping fabric to flatter the human body is artistic enough for me! :)

Fall 2012 Trends

Fall 2012 Trends
Okay so my last set definitely did not sum up all of the Fall 2012 trends...so here is another one to cover the last of it!

#1: Baroque Prints:
These prints are the newest and freshest addition to the world of fashion and have been found on everything from coats to dresses, to tops and pants! It may be referenced as Victorian inspired due to the intricate patterns and design.

#2. Equistrian Wear:
-From preppy blazers to riding boots. Preppy equistrian wear is in for fall! Perfect for a preppy back to school look.

#3. Colorful Hair:
-Hair is making a statement as an accessory as well! From chalk dying to ombre....coloring your hair is a fun way to express your personality and style.

#4. Mermaid Waves:
-Mermaid wavy inspired hair is a perfect look for fall that resembles the wet hair style (minus the wetness) that is "in" according to fashion magazines. Its a perfect hairstyle for a "i've been summer washed." look.

#5. Dark makeup:
-Makeup has always been a trend but now cat eyes, and dark goth inspired makeup is all over the runways. Use rich huges like: burgundy, reds, black, and plum.

#6. Classic Denim? Nah. Funky prints? Oh la la!
- Funky prints and colors of all kinds of hitting up denim...of course the classic denim will always be around...but for now...stalk up on patterns and bright colored jeans!

I think that pretty much covers it for now! Did I miss anything?? Comment!
